Avignon University is organised into two institutes located on two campuses: The Agrosciences, Environment and Health Institute and The Culture, Heritage and Digital Societies Institute.  The DATASET project is carried out by the hydrogeology group, which is a part of the UMR EMMAH. The UMR EMMAH is characterized by its strong multidisciplinary approach, encompassing applied physics in heterogeneous environments, hydrogeology, soil ecology, and agronomy. The complementarity of its teams stems from this disciplinary richness, enabling them to address a continuum of objects (aquifer - unsaturated zone, soil, plant cover) and processes (transfers, physicochemistry, biology) for the development of knowledge, characterization methods, and models.

Role as DATASET partner

  • Consortium member / Partner of the project

  • Leader of WP2 (DATASET application and calibration)

  • Participation in WP1, WP2 and WP3 regarding index creation, index application and calibration, simulation of management scenarios.

Key Quote or Testimonial

The Mediterranean is a hotspot for global changes, where natural and anthropogenic pressures on groundwater resources will only exacerbate the degradation of these essential resources for humans and ecosystems. The DATASET project and its expected outcomes are crucial for enhancing the resilience of Mediterranean communities in the face of this groundwater resources degradation. In parallel, the research within the project's international consortium is both stimulating and enriching.
